Mission and Values

Mission Statement

“To be a leading provider of Early Childhood Education for New Zealand children and their families/whānau”

Company Values

Integrity

We need to act fairly, impartially and responsibly in our relationships with our children, families, colleagues and communities.  Acting with integrity involves acting with full honesty and openness at all times.  We seek to gain credibility, respect and trust through doing what we say we are going to do, or if not then explaining the reasons for the change in what had been agreed.  Integrity underpins our eight other values.

 Leadership

Good leadership includes having clear vision, passion, excellent problem solving abilities, strong people skills (including empathy), clear thinking, effective communication, high energy levels, strong motivational skills and a constant focus on performance results.  All ABC New Zealand staff have the opportunity to lead each day within their respective roles.  ABC New Zealand requires strong leadership at every level in its organisation.

Making a Difference

We are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of our children and families.  We do what we love and love what we do in providing the best possible education and care for each individual child.  We provide a level of care that promotes safety and security at all times.

Respect

We respect the contribution of individuals, the diversity of our respective backgrounds, and the environments in which we work.  We recognise and acknowledge the competence of our children, their parents and our staff.

Teamwork

All ABC New Zealand staff need to work together, support each other and encourage one another as a member of their respective team.  We need our Teachers supporting our Centre Directors, our Centre Directors supporting our Administrators and Area Managers, our Area Managers supporting our Senior Management Team and vice versa.  We need cross functional teamwork with our Finance and Marketing teams supporting our Operations staff, and vice versa, as well as strong teamwork with our outside suppliers.  The sum of the whole, when aligned and motivated, will always be greater than the sum of the individual parts and good teamwork provides the synergy.

Communication

We communicate openly and with honesty at all times.  Our communications are clear and concise and are targeted to those who need to receive the information.  We listen well and in doing so are respectful of ideas and opinions that may be contrary to our own.  By providing clear communication we will ensure that everyone involved has the necessary information in order to make the right decisions and provide the best outcomes for our children.

Performance Excellence

Partnership with Families / Whanau

We recognise each child’s relationship with his / her family / whānau as paramount to their physical and emotional wellbeing.  We acknowledge parents’ expertise and understanding of their child, and their aspirations for their child as they grow.  By sharing what we know and inviting parents to join us in what we do, we educate and care for children in partnership with parents and families.

Fun

We aspire to provide a work environment whereby our staff and children have fun and enjoyment each day.  We develop, educate and care for our children so that they have fun and excitement when attending our centres.  As part of having fun we celebrate our successes and achievements.
